Our First Trip To Egypt ...

Our first trip to Egypt was very intense and it is impossible to describe all the places we have visited. Below is a brief description of some places that we think are worth recommending.

Egypt aroused mixed feelings. By choosing this direction, we hoped for a deeper understanding of the history of this ancient land, as well as culture, cuisine and customs that have survived there until present day. As for history, ruins and museums, our expectations were fulfilled to the letter. As for the customs and culture, today's Egyptians have left a little bad taste associated with commercialization and downright intrusive manners of our hosts.

Cruise on the Nile from Luxor to Aswan.

Five days spent on the ship on the way to Aswan was an amazing experience. We spent hot days on deck admiring the panoramic view of the Nile and cooling off in the pool. Afternoons and evenings were reserved for visiting the coastal ruins of the temples of Thebes, Edfu and Kom Ombo, culminating in a stunning temple in Abu Simbel and exploring the Aswan High Dam. We recommend this trip to anyone with a flair of traveller-explorer.

Be Sure To See ...

Historical evening "Sound and Light" show at the pyramids of Giza.

Pyramids are impressive, but not everyone knows that they can also enjoy this historical site at night. Sound and Light Show is a very interesting presentation of the history of the pyramids of Giza combined with beautiful light effects. The show is available in several languages (select the appropriate hour) and takes about an hour. During the spectacle you can take pictures, which is a nice addition.

Temple at Abu Simbel turned out to be worth the effort and the long journey.

The complex at Abu Simbel consists of two temples built by Ramses II. In the 60's it was moved 65 meters higher of the banks of Lake Nasser, created after construction of Aswan High Dam. Entrance to the temple is guarded by four huge statues of Ramses, each more than 20 meters high. The whole complex reaches up to 65 meters deep into the rock and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
