Lanzarote - Holiday Paradise
Our trip to the Canary Islands was one of those "lazy" ones. Although we only visited Lanzarote, it is still something to talk about. The island climate seems to suit us very much.
Lanzarote is the fourth largest island of the Canary archipelago. In 1993, UNESCO recognized the entire island as a Biosphere Reserve, so there is no industry here and interestingly, also agriculture (with the exception of the famous local wineries). However, the island has a lot to offer for tourists, both those seeking rest, play and closeness to nature, as well as those looking for a little bit of culture and history.
Lanzarote, as a volcanic island, has a rather harsh, rocky landscape. It has a very pleasant climate described as subtropical or semi-desert, with the average temperature of 22-24 degrees C. You can come here at any time and still count on the good weather. You will find there everything you can expect from a tourist paradise, from clubs and restaurants through shopping centres, to local attractions such as the San Ginés festival in August, or local world-known wine called Malvasia. All of this is wrapped with people kindness, Atlantic Ocean and reasonable prices.
Be Sure To See ...
Fundación César Manrique - the most famous artist, designer and architect of Lanzarote.
César Manrique Cabrera (1919 - 1992) is one of the most famous figures of Lanzarote, and without him, the island would not exist in its present shape. It was thanks to the activities of this comprehensively talented artist that Lanzarote did not lose its natural beauty. Traces of his activity are visible throughout the island. His idea was to create a perfect combination of nature and artificial human creations, which can be seen perfectly on the example of his home, headquarters of the Foundation.
Rancho Texas Lanzarote Park - attractions and leisure activities for the whole family.
An excellent choice for spending the day, for the whole family. The park offers a wealth of attractions, from the show of sea lions and dolphins, through demonstrations of birds of prey and parrots, to an evening performance commemorating the founding of the San Antonio city (Texas, USA) by the Canarian people. Park also offers a choice of restaurants together with a complex of swimming pools with many attractions for children. Link to the Park website is here.
