Autumn Tour Of Rome And The Vatican ...
As the old saying goes "all roads lead to Rome." There's a bit of truth to it, because who was not in Rome, did not really travel.
Rome did a big impression on us. The charm of "the eternal city" is difficult to describe. For sure this is not the history itself, which looks at you in every alley. It is also not only the Italian cuisine or atmosphere. It is all of it together, harmoniously combined that makes you love Rome at first sight.
You have to have the right attitude when exploring Rome. The story itself is quite overwhelming, so it should be dispensed in moderation. There is no way to see everything. Fine dining; original Italian, is certainly worthy of closer insight. Trastevere is a mecca for anyone who likes to eat well and definitely worth the price, especially in the evening. Public transport is good and cheap, and for those who do not have the time or desire to plan every day from scratch, we recommend City Sightseeing Bus, where you can visit all of the main attractions. On board you can listen to comment guide, get off at any stop, and go back on the next bus. In addition to well-known, at least by reputation, sites such as the Coliseum and the Roman Forum, there are some places worth visiting especially in the evening, such as Trevi Fountain or Fountain of the Four Rivers. Another attraction worth visiting are the Catacombs on Via Apia, the most famous Roman road. If you have time, you can go to one of the Rome's markets, such as Campo dei Fiori, which take place every day, and taste fresh fruits, vegetables or the famous Italian cheeses.
Vatican Museum ...
Reserve whole day for this attraction. The Vatican Museum has one of the largest art collections in the world.
It was made available to visitors in the eighteenth century. Museum has several sections devoted to the art collections gathered by successive popes. It is interesting that among the many collections, there is a section devoted to the history of religions from almost every corner of the world. The Hall of Sobieski exhibits painting by Jan Matejko showing the king Jan III Sobieski after his victory at Vienna. Part of the museum is also the Sistine Chapel with its famous frescoes by Michelangelo.
In the Museo Pio-Clementino, you can see a rich collection of ancient sculptures like Apollo Belvedere, Laocoon Group or the Belvedere Torso. We most enjoyed the collections of gobelins, books and maps from around the world. Presented in long galleries, seemingly having no end they are forming fairy tale image. The interest of tourists in Vatican Museum is huge. A good idea is to reserve and purchase tickets in advance to avoid long queues. Because the museum is so vast, we also recommend buying tour in a small group with a licensed guide.
